JOINT CHINA/CANADA FACTORY PRODUCTION/SUPPLY OPPORTUNITY MARKET RESEARCH

In the spring of 2007 a business agreement was formalized between two chemical product manufacturers of original equipment and aftermarket products formed an alliance to investigate the development of a business partnership for manufacturing, distribution and sales in the China market. The joint agreement was created to establish mutual commitment of the necessary resources to conduct an 8 week market research program in China.

As the lead to the project, I traveled to China and with the help of the China based factory senior management a market research team or 5 participants was put together and given the responsibility to conduct a thorough market and customer potential evaluation and make the recommendation to the senior management teams of both the China and Canadian based manufacturing companies.

At the end of the 8 week period a market opportunity model and potential was developed and presented. The exercise documented the potential opportunity and the end result was that a product supply agreement with key milestones was put into place and both companies to this day are slowly evolving the relationship and capitalizing on new product sales and access to new customers in the world’s largest automotive market.
