Books, magazines and Other Flight Time Wasters
I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to travel and visit many parts of the world as a result of my work assignments. The time spent on an aircraft can vary from a few hours to almost a full day depending on where you’re final destination may be. When traveling with colleagues, the time in the air is used to plan and strategize the upcoming events and getting to know one another better however whenever you are traveling alone, you must consider other distractions such as catching up on the latest movies and television programs, read a few books or magazines, write articles and have them published in an industry magazine and if you are so inclined you can create a diary of the travel experiences for your family, friends and/or co-workers.
My traveling for work began in the late 1970′s a time when computers, copiers and fax machines were still in the minds of great inventors; books and magazines were available in print form only; taking pictures and sharing them with friends, family and co-workers required you to carry a heavy and bulky camera that stored a picture on film that later required you to have it developed and printed. As a result most of what a traveler experienced during this era of travel was committed to memory. However for the past decade technology has come to the rescue and I have kept records of many of the activities that occupied my time while in the air for as much as 18 hours at a stretch. The activities are varied and have been categorized to provide some indication as to the many variations of distractions required to maintain your sanity during a long international flight.
