Technology
I have always had a passion for technology. My automotive mechanical background, my curiosity of what makes thing work and my passion to find solutions to unorthodox problems makes me an ideal early adopter candidate. My first exposure to using a computer for an analysis project occured at one of the top three domestic automotive manufacturers in the late 1970′s. For a failure analysis project I needed to learn how to querry a database of warranty failure information by creating questions using punch cards. To a modern day techie, this query process would seem to them as if I worked my way out of the dark ages – a cavemen on transistors. From this point on I was addicted to making technology a part of my life.
Throughout my career the computer/information technology spectrum was always an area of high interest. As an automotive technician I was the technician always assigned to tackled the computer related performance problems. As I worked my way through various corporate roles I found hat I was very comfortable working with information technology by creating visions for better ways of managing a business. This led to creating several program/projects and assembling and managing the development teams and delivering several technology tools to better manage a variety of business activities (outlined separately in this section) as a corporate employee as well as creating two independently owned technology start-ups.
Mobile technology is the latest wave in the technology field to experience unprecedented growth. The evolution of the mobile phone into a smartphone and then the transfer of the mobile operating system to a tablet technology has created a whole new way to do business. As per my usual I have invested in procuring a broad range of mobile oriented technology and testing them in the real world. Obtaining experience by using the variety of tools is preparing me to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the mobile technology in their use as a business support tool.
