Gastroscopy Standalone Recording Unit
Project Outline:
A Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China manufacturer of specialty medical service devices requested assistance in the development of a unique gastroscopic device for the detection of specific medical conditions. To achieve this a high quality colour camera that could be inserted and articulated through a patients throat and capture both still pictures and film on a single device. The unit must be portable, have removable memory on-board and have within it the necessary programs to integrate within a medical information library when necessary.
Project Outcome:
A project review identified that the device and necessary programming could be developed and manufactured in China but that there were issues related to quality and intellectual property that could not be resolved. A recommendation was made to work with a technology company located in Taiwan that had experience in this field and that they had the reputation to respect any ans all product and program patents developed for ts customers. The introductions between the two organizations was completed in February 2012 and the project is currently under development.
